Your dog can eat fresh apricots but do make sure to remove the kernal, stem and leaves first. As with any fruit, the seeds, leaves and stems contain cyanide. In addition, the kernal can cause digestive blockage. It is unclear of the quantity consumed to cause symptoms but smaller dogs would obviously have more reaction than larger dogs although no amount should be considered safe.

An occasional dried apricot isn’t harmful either, but be careful not to overindulge. Any dried fruit has a huge amount of sugar in it, too much of which is not good for dogs.
